The Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Conference is the only annual conference on the Western Slope dedicated to connecting and educating people working with victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse. Now in its 14th year, this two-day conference attracts attendees from across the many disciplines serving this category of victims. Professionals from Law Enforcement, Victim Advocacy, Clergy, the Department of Human Services, Probation, Parole, D51 Schools and various medical fields are some of our participants. Historically, about 60% of our attendees are Mesa County residents and another 20% are CMU students and faculty, who, thanks to our partnership with CMU, attend free of charge. The remaining 20% come from surrounding communities all along the Western Slope. Over the years, attendance has grown to about 300 and we anticipate further growth. IPVAC has been host to both local and national speakers and we strive to bring both foundational and advanced sessions to help the practitioners in our community keep up-to-date with evolving best practices.
In order to keep registration costs low (currently $100 for residents and $150 for non-residents) we need help funding this valuable conference.
